Plants in the workplace have great benefits both physically and psychologically on you, your staff and your customers. Numerous studies prove that the benefits of plants in the workplace far outweigh the cost.
Some of the benefits include:
- Cleaner Air: When plants transpire water vapor from their leaves, they pull air down around their roots. This supplies their root microbes with oxygen. The root microbes also convert other substances in the air (such as toxic chemicals) into a source of food and energy.
- Several common species of interior landscape plants have the ability to remove compounds such as formaldahyde, benzene, and hexane
- Working in an environment that includes plants reduces carbon dioxide levels and lowers stress.
- Plants and flowers inspire our creativity. In an eight-month study, a Texas A&M University research team explored the link between flowers and plants and productivity.During the study, both men and women demonstrated more innovative thinking, generating more ideas and original solutions to problems in the office environment that included flowers and plants, than the one that didn’t.
Simply put, plants in the workplace make for happier employees and customers. Not everyone has a green thumb, however. And let’s be honest, plant caring can be time consuming. There are plant leasing companies out there, like Plants Alive! Tennessee. For over 35 years Plants Alive! Tennessee has provided plants, and maintained those plants, for places like the Rennaissance Hotel, St. Thomas Hospitals, and more.
